Practice of the Month: Prayer Walking
April 1, 2026
- May 1, 2026
We want to express the love of god in pockets all around the city where we live, work, and play!
For the month of April, we're inviting everyone to get outside and pray for the people and places God has called us to. Where is God inviting you to pray?
Watch the vintage video from early 2020, and see a simple guide below.
PRAYER WALK GUIDE
A simple tool to help us move out to pray in the places where we live, work, and play. Identify an area you feel called to and invite a partner to join you! As we walk, look, listen, and bless what God is doing.
Before You Go (2–3 minutes) – Center yourself:
Take a few slow breaths
Pray: “Come Holy Spirit. Lead me as I walk.”
As You Walk (15–30 minutes)
1. LOOK — What do you notice?
Simple prayer:“God, help me see this place the way You do.”
People (families, workers, kids, elderly)
Places (homes, schools, businesses, parks)
Signs oflife or struggle
2. LISTEN — What is God highlighting?
Pause when something stands out and talk to God about it.
“Holy Spirit, what are You saying?”
“Where are You already at work?”
“What would it look like for your Kingdom to come in this place as it is in heaven?”
3. BLESS — Pray simple, specific prayers:
For people: “God, bless them with peace, provision, and Your presence.”
For homes: “Let this be a place of love, safety, and joy.”
For spaces: “Let Your kingdom come here—bring healing and restoration.”
4. ENGAGE (if a natural moment comes up & feels appropriate)
Smile, greet, or have a short conversation
Offer a simple prayer: “Hey, is there anything I can pray for right now?”
After You Walk (5 minutes) – Reflect:
What did I notice? Where did I sense God?
Is there a next step (return, connect, serve)?
Close in prayer:
“Jesus, thank you for this place and these people. Show me how to keep expressing your love here.”
