BIG NEWS!
We're moving to EVERY Sunday Worship Gatherings starting October 4!
ThE Short version of the story:
Over the past six months, our Elder Team has been on a journey of discernment—intentionally praying, listening, and seeking God’s direction for what’s next for VCOV.
Throughout the process, we’ve sensed a clear invitation from the Lord to move toward greater availability and consistency in how we gather—making room for more people to experience His transforming love while also building a stronger support structure to equip and send folks out to cultivate pockets of community.
So does this mean our vision is changing?
Not at all! We believe the church is a family on mission, and we exist to welcome people home to a family being transformed by the love of Jesus. We don't see this as a change in philosophy, but rather as the next step in strengthening and sustaining the kind of movement God is calling Vineyard Covington to become. Our mission, vision, and core values will all remain the same, and we actually think this well help us fulfill our mission even more effectively.
We're still focused on cultivating pockets of community all around the city where people learn how to practice the way of Jesus together in everyday life. In the next season, we're going to focus on building stronger systems to help connect, train, equip, and send ordinary people out to do the stuff of the Kingdom and embody the love of Jesus through shared life together.
How is Jesus inviting you to commit in this new season?
FAQ
No. Community is central to our way of life together, and House Groups are the vehicle that helps us practice this in our everyday lives. While, consistent Sunday gatherings are important to connect the whole family together, the goal is to encourage and equip people to cultivate pockets of community where we live, work, and play. Church was never intended to be limited to a weekly program inside a religious building. The goodness can't be contained!
We’re not asking a handful of people to do twice as much. We’re inviting more of the church into shared ownership, building healthy teams, and planning ahead so roles are sustainable and joyful. In healthy families, everyone has a part to play in sharing their gifts and serving one another. We all give and we all receive. A dedicated team is working specifically on volunteer systems and kids.
Prayer is at the center of our formation and life with God. It’s not something we ever move on from. In this next season, we will be adjusting and re-imagining when and how we set rhythms for prayer together. House Groups have the flexibility to figure out what rhythms work within their group, and there’s also an opportunity to start and multiply new prayer rhythms.
Rather than viewing Sundays as an event to attend, we see them as a formative rhythm that shapes us as a family. This means we need to be even more intentional to make our times together participatory, relational, Spirit-led, and emotionally healthy—not performance-driven or overly programmatic. We have freedom to experiment a little! While the basic elements will be consistent, at least one Sunday a month will look intentionally different—focusing on practice, discussion, soul care, prayer, etc.—to keep us living what we say we value.
We don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves, but we’re aware this could stretch our current building, especially for kids. We want to grow and be able to welcome more people into the family. We’re praying and actively planning for solutions, including the possibility of another building in God’s timing. Please be praying with us!
